the basics

general stuff

Q

what is RMBT?

Rate My Belmont Teacher is an independent student-created website where students can read and submit reviews about teachers and their classroom experience.

It currently includes Belmont Secondary School and a separate Royal Bay Secondary School section.

Q

is this an official school website?

Nope.

RMBT is not operated by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or officially endorsed by Belmont Secondary School, Royal Bay Secondary School, or School District 62.

Q

where is the Royal Bay section?

Royal Bay lives inside the same website at:

/royalbay →

Belmont stays on the main homepage.

Q

do I need a separate Royal Bay account?

No. Your RMBT account works across both Belmont and Royal Bay.

reviews

Q

what should a review actually talk about?

Things that would help another student understand the class.

Teaching quality, clarity, difficulty, fairness, workload, grading, organization, expectations, communication, and similar classroom experiences are all useful.

Q

can I leave a negative review?

Yes.

Reviews do not need to be positive. You can criticize your experience as long as you follow the rules and keep it relevant to teaching or the class.

Q

can I review the same teacher multiple times?

RMBT currently allows one review per teacher per account.

One manifesto per person.

Q

can I edit my review?

Yes. If you posted the review through your account, you can edit your own review.

Q

are reviews verified as facts?

No.

Reviews are user-generated opinions and experiences. RMBT does not independently investigate every statement submitted to the site.

Q

what does RMBT REVIEWED mean?

A ✓ RMBT REVIEWED label means an RMBT administrator has reviewed that content for moderation purposes.

It does not mean every statement in the review was independently proven true.

accounts & names

Q

can I review anonymously?

Yes. Anonymous is an available display option when posting a review.

Q

what other name options are there?

Depending on your profile, you can choose to display your first name or your first name plus last initial.

You can also just stay anonymous.

Q

does anonymous mean nobody has an account?

No. Reviews still require an RMBT account.

Anonymous controls what name is shown publicly on the review.

Q

should I share my password with RMBT support?

Absolutely not.

RMBT will never need your password to troubleshoot your account.

the extremely serious admin desk

moderation

Q

how do I report a review or reply?

Use the report button attached to the review or reply whenever possible.

That gives RMBT the exact content and makes the report easier to investigate.

Q

does reporting something automatically delete it?

No.

A report tells the moderators to look at something. It does not automatically mean the content broke a rule or will be removed.

Q

can I report a review just because I disagree with it?

You can disagree with a review, but disagreement by itself is not a rule violation.

Reports are intended for things such as harassment, private information, spam, threats, impersonation, or other rule violations.

Q

where should serious allegations go?

RMBT is not an emergency or investigation service.

Serious safety concerns, threats, abuse, criminal activity, or similar incidents should be reported through the appropriate school, district, emergency, law-enforcement, trusted-adult, or support channel.

directory bureaucracy

teachers & requests

Q

does submitting a teacher request add them instantly?

No.

Requests may be reviewed first so names, departments, duplicates, and other information can be checked before the directory changes.

Q

can I report incorrect teacher information?

Yes. The request system can also be used for corrections such as spelling problems, incorrect departments, duplicates, or teachers who no longer work at the school.

Q

why isn't RMBT just using an official staff directory?

RMBT is not an official school directory, and the teacher database is maintained separately for the purposes of the site.

That is also why corrections and teacher requests may need to be checked.

technical problems

Q

something is broken. what should I send you?

Tell us what happened, what page you were on, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.

A page link and the exact error message are extremely useful.

Q

why didn't my confirmation email arrive?

First check your spam or junk folder and make sure you entered the correct email address.

If it still refuses to exist, contact RMBT and include enough information to explain the issue — but never send your password.

Q

is RMBT guaranteed to be online forever?

Unfortunately, RMBT has not yet achieved immortality.

The site may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, bugs, hosting problems, updates, or other technical nonsense.
